Child Care Health Consultation Program's purpose is to provide free health and safety-related consultation, staff training and community resource information to licensed child care centers or homes throughout Maricopa County.

  • To facilitate children's use of health services

Child Care Nurse Consultants...

  • Offer a variety of services that will enhance your ability as a child care provider to improve and protect the health and well-being of children enrolled in your care.
  • Are Community Health Registered Nurses certified by the National Training Institute for the Child Care Health Consultants, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
  • Are supported and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Resource Center for Health Safety in Child Care.
  • Are separate from ADHS Office of Child Care Licensing.
  • Provide consultation for the child care program, do not provide direct services to children.

About Our Program

The mission of First Things First (FTF) is to increase the quality of, and access to, early childhood programs to ensure that a child entering school comes healthy and ready to succeed.

Child Care Health Consultants are part of the FTF Statewide Initiative to improve the quality of child care provided to children through the Quality First! Program. The Quality First Program provides Child Care Health Consultation Services via a tiered system, based on child care program's need and desire for Child Care Health Consultation services.
