Qualifying Events

If you experience a Qualifying Event, you may record your Family Status Change directly in the Benefit Enrollment System accessed through the ADP Portal. Refer to the Qualifying Events Chart for a list of Qualifying Events (PDF).

Record an Event

To record an event, log into the ADP Portal and access the Benefit Enrollment System. Instructions are provided on the site; here are additional directions on "How to Complete a Family Status Change in ADP" (PDF).

Each Family Status Change requires that you use the correct event effective date so that enrollment or dis-enrollment in benefits coverage is accurate. Some events allow for pre-dating of up to seven days. For example, you will be able to record a marriage event up to seven days before your actual date of marriage. Family Status Changes must be completed within 30 calendar days of your Qualifying Event date. There are no exceptions.

Once you complete your changes, you can provide an email address to receive a Confirmation Number electronically and you will be sent a Confirmation Statement to your home address.

Additionally, you will be sent a letter from the Dependent Verification Service Center requesting proof of your Qualifying Event. Failure to provide proof will result in your Family Status Change being reversed.
